Reading café. The Noodle Maker of Kalimpong

Friday 7 March 7pm – 9pm

This is an autobiographical tale, written by one of the Dalai Lama‘s brothers, about the place of Tibet and the Tibetan people, amidst the geopolitical struggles of the Cold War, the threat of American imperialism in Asia, and the Chinese government’s unskilful response to that.  It raises interesting questions for us Buddhists about how we might think and act in regard to colonialist violence, the occupation of indigenous peoples, and armed resistance, without ourselves falling victim to the violence of side-taking, blame, and ill will. Please come with lots of Metta!
