Mitra Ceremonies for Martyn, Sarah, Jamie and Pete
Sunday 19 October 10:30am – 1pm
You are warmly invited to join us for a very special occasion to witness four Mitra ceremonies for four very special people! Martyn, Sarah, Jamie and Pete will all make a commitment to our Community, through making the 3 traditional offerings to the shrine in a public ceremony as part of the 7 fold puja.
The morning starts at 10:30am and we conclude with a delicious Indian vegan lunch, which is generously being provided by Sangha members. If you would like to bring vegan Indian snacks to the feast that would be very welcome. However, as is traditional at Mitra Ceremonies you are also invited to bring cake!
We generally bring small gifts and cards to celebrate the mitras, and hope you can join us in witnessing this very special event.
All are welcome.
Frequently Asked Questions
I've not been to a Mitra Ceremony before, is it ok to come?
Absolutely! Mitra Ceremonies are one of the most joyful occasions for the Sangha.
I don't know any of the people becoming Mitras very well, is it still ok to come along?
Definitely! Mitra Ceremonies are for the whole Sangha and you will certainly know more about Sarah, Pete, Martyn and Jamie by the end of the day!
What food should I bring?
An Indian lunch is kindly being provided, however you can either bring Indian vegan snacks or vegan cake - there is always a place for cakes after a Mitra Ceremony.
Do I need to come to the whole event, or can I turn up part way through?
Because of the nature of the event, which takes place almost entirely in the shrine room, it is best to come for the whole event.
