Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dharma Day?

Dharma Day is a festival celebrated throughout the Buddhist world which marks the anniversary of the Buddha first communicating his Dharma (‘teachings’) to others after his Enlightenment and thus starting the spread of Buddhist wisdom.

Do I need to be a Buddhist?

You don't have to call yourself a Buddhist to attend, but you'll probably find it helpful to have been to some of our other classes beforehand so you're familiar with meditation and with some Buddhist terminology.

Can I come for just part of the day?

We are really happy to welcome you for any part of the day. It's worth considering if you can come for the whole day as the elements of the programme work together to help create a deeper experience.

What is a puja?

Many of our events include a ritual called puja. This involves repeating devotional verses, chanting, and the opportunity to make offerings. You are welcome to actively participate or to simply take it in.

What's the cost for the day?

We don't charge for events, but we rely on donations to keep the centre running so anything you can give will be very welcome.

What sort of food should I bring for the shared lunch?

Anything vegan would be welcome. There's usually a good selection!
