The power of Exploring Experience
Sunday 1 December 10:30am – 4:30pm
In the Buddha’s second discourse he asked the five ascetics to explore their experience of the skandhas. As a result, they became enlightened. Yet for us the skandhas can be hard to understand. This day will give a chance to explore them in a straightforward and fun way. With that understanding comes the opportunity to become more aware of what is happening in our experience and so to bring about change. There is also the potential to understand better the nature of self. The day will involve short talks, simple experiments, meditations, reflections and discussions and at least one poem. It is suitable for regulars, mitras and Order members.
The day will be led by Sagaraghosa who led newcomers’ Buddhism and meditation courses at the Cambridge Buddhist Centre for 14 years. Windhorse Publications has published her book, Starting on the Buddhist Path which is a clear and accessible introduction to Buddhism and encourages readers to explore the truth of the Buddha’s teachings in their own experience. It contains a chapter on the skandhas to enable readers to go deeper in their experience. In addition, the book is very attractive, being in full colour and full of illustrations.
Sagaraghosa will be happy to sign copies of the book during breaks during the day.
