"Kindness to ourselves, others and the earth - our worlds - is central to all good lives and all good religion."
Earthkind Day | Saturday 21st July
Buddhist groups around the UK are organising and running community events as part of the national inter-faith ‘Year of Service’ during the Diamond Jubilee year in July 2012. Throughout 2012 each major faith community is taking a month and a theme of their choice – the Buddhist community will be running events in July with an environmental theme.
We’ll be having an ‘Earthkind’ day on 21st July at Colchester Buddhist Centre which will be open to the local community. The day will comprise of a litter pick in the morning (please bring a sturdy pear of gloves), a vegetarian shared lunch (package free), a talk in the afternoon by Amalaketu linking Buddhist principles with Environmental Issues, discussion groups in the form of a Dharma cafe, and finally a Green Tara Puja.
The day is open to all, please bring vegetarian lunch to share (preferably packaging free). The day starts at 10.30 a.m. and is free of charge. Please feel free to join us for all or part of the day.
The agenda for the day is as follows:
